What is BICILET Bike Rental and how does it work?
BICILET Bike Rental provides bike shops with an easy way to reach thousands more customers, and make the most of their spare or rental bikes, by making it easy for cyclists and travellers to find and book bikes to hire.
How do I sign up?
Simple - just go to www.bicilet.com/join+our+network, and follow the steps there. The sign-up process is straightforward, but please do get in touch with us if you have any queries!
I'm already signed up with another platform, can I still sign up with you?
Absolutely! We're on a mission to help shops reach more customers. We're confident that we are best placed to help you reach the customer base you need to. It's also free to sign up, so what's to lose?
Who can list on BICILET Bike Rental?
Any bike shop / tour operator / hotel / company with bikes to hire! We'll consider extending to individuals in the future, but for the moment we're focusing on established operators, to guarantee quality.
Are there any restrictions on what can be listed?
We'll check all listings before they go live - but you should list all the bikes you have for hire, and any accessories you can hire too! We're not a shop, so people can't buy items (only hire) through the site. If you have a type of bike or accessory that is not listed as an option on the site then let us know and we will add it to the site for you.
What do you charge?
There is no fee to be listed on the site! We just take a commission of 15% of the total booking value of any order placed through our site. We think this is a fair amount for the thousands of additional customers you will be exposed to, and the marketing and transaction functionality that we will be implementing for you.
Do I have to charge a specific price? How much should I charge?
The price you charge is completely up to you, you remain in complete control of your offer. Although our terms and conditions state you cannot charge more than you charge in your shop. If you have any questions on how much to charge, or want to know what might be sensible, please do get in touch and we will give you our best advice!
How do I set custom pricing? (Eg for long reservations, off-seasons)?
We're working on integrating this functionality to the site. For the time being, please check the pricing quoted to the customer for each booking, and adjust as necessary when you are confirming the booking.
Can I list the bicycle tours I offer on the site?
At the moment customers cannot book tours through the site, but this is something we are planning to add in in the future. In the meantime, you can include details of your tours in the description section of your shops page.
How do I activate my listing?
Once you've completed the sign-up listing, it will be submitted to the BICILET Bike Rental team to review. We'll then let you know when it is up and running - and hopefully you will start receiving bookings immediately!
How do I view and send messages?
You will receive an email notification when you receive a message / enquiry from a customer. To view all of the messages regarding a specific booking, you can log in to the booking page from the emails you receive.
You are also able to view all of the orders you have on a dashboard, and the status they are in (from booking enquiry to complete & paid).
How long do I have to respond to a booking?
You have 48 hours to respond to a booking. We will send you a reminder after 24 hours, but if you do not respond within 48 hours we will help the customer look elsewhere, so please make sure you are paying attention to the email address you used to sign up with!
Can I decline booking enquiries?
Of course - but please make sure you provide a response to the customer if you can't provide a bike / bikes as quickly as possible so that they can make alternative arrangements.
What if my guest cancels their reservation?
We operate the following Terms & Conditions. If a customer cancels, you will still receive what the customer was liable for (minus their refund, and BICILET's commission).
What if my guest doesn't show up for their reservation?
Then please get in touch with us, and we will try to find out what is going on. If the customer doesn't give you warning, they will still be liable for the cost of the bike.
What if I want to collect a deposit?
You can do that - we would suggest you take a deposit when the customer collects the bike. In the future we are planning to add a feature to allow us to collect funds for the deposit, to make it even easier for you.
If the customer is having the bike delivered, you can either take the deposit as cash, or we can take it for you at the time of payment (and organise the refund to the customer)
How do I charge for delivery?
You can either add this to the total cost of the bikes on our booking form, or collect in cash on delivery. Again, this is a feature we are adding soon!
What if a guest damages a bike?
The contract for rental is between yourself and the customer, we just provide the booking tool. You may decide you want to collect a deposit from the customer in order to protect against such instances. As per our Terms & Conditions, BICILET is not responsible for the actions of a guest using your bikes.
How do payments work, and when do I get paid for a rental?
The customer pays BICILET Bike Rental at the time of booking, and we will pay you the day after the rental has started (the full amount after our commission). This is simply to ensure that everything is as expected with the bike – which we are sure it will be! We will send you a notification once you have been paid.
Any other questions? Please get in touch - we are always happy to chat!
